Ladies Season 2022
We entered teams in Division 2 and Division 3 of the LBLI leagues. Division 2’s first match of the season was a winning match playing CYM at home. This team had mixed fortunes and struggled to field a full team each week. They finished midway in their league.
Division 3 ladies fought hard and won this Division the McIntyre Cup. The winning of this trophy was decided by 4 shots over Blackrock B team. A great result for a team that included ladies who were competing for the first time in any LBLI league. The cup was presented By LBLI President Catherine Hazlette to Club Captain Sheila Kelly at the end of season dinner held in Clontarf BC in September. Skerries had previously won this Cup in 2004.
The opening tournament of the LBLI 2022 championships was held at Clontarf BC mid April and was attended by several Skerries ladies who competed in the tournament.
Our 2022 club representative in the Champion of Champions was Liz Kenny, who was runner-up on the day which was held in Dun Laoghaire in glorious sunshine on Sunday 17th July. Having won the 2022 Clubs Annual Singles competition in September, 2022 our representative for 2023 will be Isobel Murray.
In the 2022 LBLI Championships which was very well supported by Skerries ladies in the earlier rounds, our Fours team of Isobel, Maura, Sheila & Nancy made it to the Semi Finals in Championship week. Hopes were high as this team were runner-up in this competition in 2019, however, they had no luck in 2022.
The year 2022 was busy for our Ladies with social bowling continuing every Monday morning. The Easter Bonnet morning, Lady Captain’s Pink Morning in aid of St Francis Hospice, and the fun Halloween and Christmas Jumper morning was very well supported and enjoyed by all.
The Redden Cup played annually against Aer Lingus was held on 8th September and Skerries retained their title. All team members enjoyed the hospitality of the Aer Lingus team in the Coachman’s Inn.
Looking forward to the 2023 season which will commence end of April.
