Lot Essay

The present work depicts a bison, recalling the significance of the animal "as a metaphor for a bygone past and for the squandering of natural resources." (T. Tolles, T.B. Smith, The American West in Bronze, exhibition catalogue, New York, 2013, p. 69) Buffalo was cast in two sizes, the present version and a 23 inch-high version.
